When I decided to try a personal trainer my
goal was to improve overall health, strength
and stability as well as gain knowledge and
tips on training and nutrition. Because of my
age, 51 and my physical limitations; artificial
hip, a compromised ACL in one knee and
degenerative disks in my lower back, I was a
bit skeptical that I’d actually lose any weight
or improve my body shape. Boy, was I in for
a surprise.
I am astounded at the results I’ve achieved

Training. In just two short months (minus a
week that I was sick) I’ve seen results I didn’t

included measuring and testing flexibility,
range of motion, balance and core strength
among other things. From this assessment
he worked up a safe, fun, do-able and

In November 2007, I was fed up with my diet,
my workouts (or lack of), and ultimately, my
body. I had just graduated in May and was
working my first full time job. I worked 12-
hour shifts on my feet. I was always “too
tired” to workout or “too busy” to cook healthy
meals or pack my lunch.
Soon, I felt completely out of shape. I knew I
needed a change. I had always been
interested in figure competitions, so I
decided to commit myself to a summer 2008
competition. After researching the trainers
available at the University of Kentucky, I
chose Ryan and began training with him in
mid-November. Just 3 1/2 short months
later, we started a 16-week contest
preparation.
Ryan gave me a personalized diet, strength
training plan, cardio plan, and other helpful
contest prep info such as cooking
strategies. From Day 1, I committed to
100% compliance. I noticed visible results in
less than 1 week! With Ryan’s personalized
diet, I was rarely hungry and I had plenty of
energy throughout the 16 weeks of contest
prep. In fact, I was eating at least 300 more
calories a day than most of the girls I
competed against. He also changed my
workouts every 6 weeks, which helped
eliminate boredom and burnout.
Ryan made the entire experience very easy
and enjoyable for me. He was always
available to answer my endless questions. I
was very impressed with his services. I
never dreamed that I could look like I did the
day of my competition! I am amazed at what I
was able to do with my body in just 16
weeks! I never could have done it without
Ryan’s guidance.
